Kathy Kolb, President called the meeting to order, followed by an introduction of new guests. No revisions to last month's meeting minutes were made.
Treasurer's Report: Willis reported $309.00 with 38 paid members. We incurred a $60.00 expense for monitor repairs.
Club Advertising / Awareness / Public Relations / Membership / Home Page: Wayne Palmer is designing a prototype for a club business card. We will be distributing them to the computer retailers.
No newspaper ads were run this month.
Bylaws: 2nd Annual Election of Officers (for 1998) was held. Congratulations to: Dan Yoas, President Kathy Kolb, Vice President Jim Shaffer, Secretary Gene Loveland, Treasurer
Computer swap meet: We held a discussion on holding a computer swap meet next year. It was decided that the key issues will be advertising and choosing a location with ample parking. Suggestions were made of possible locations. A suggestion was made to hold drawings for door prizes as well. We need to work on a plan, and organize volunteers.
Computer Recycling: (Giving old computers new homes) Willis Beaver rescued 5 monitors for the club, 3 of which were cheaply repaired for use at $20.00 each.
Bill Hitchens has a lot of system and application software available for community computer projects. Our concern is the legality of software reuse. We would need to have the disks, license and manuals in order to legally utilize it. A suggestion was made to donate it to SCROUNGE.
The Horizon House in Lock Haven is still on the list for a system.
Alan Cawley volunteered to attempt repair of Fritz Fedorko's 286 which he wants to give to a certain non profit group.
North Central PA computer networking / Freenet site: The next Community Net (Market Square) Support Group meeting is planned for Nov. 30, from 2 - 4 p.m. at the James V. Brown Library.
